Mi Primera Navidad Mexicana, pt. 1

I have been listening to Megan for seven years as she has told me about the great Christmas celebrations she has had with her family. This year I finally had my chance to experience it for myself. We did this one in true road trip fashion; one day to Vegas, another to Phoenix, and one more to Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. Nothing like a road trip during the holidays to see if you still love each other as much as you think you do!
I'm going to break this up into a couple of different posts. It was a photo-centric trip. There was family, food, friends, food, new places, food, beach, food, fireworks, food, piñatas, and food. Yes, you can actually see the weight I gained as the photos progress through the week. Sad, but dang good.
Let's get started. Don't expect big explanations on these. Most of the time, the photo and a quick explanation will be sufficient. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment.

Megs, Ty and I stopped at my cousins' in Vegas. That would be Megs, Anglea and Katy in the back. Me, Brad and Jeff in the middle. Tyler, Monkey, Peanut and Felicity.

Two days before we arrived in Vegas, it snowed there. I'm not sure if this is Mt. Charleston or not, but it is one of the tiny mountains outside of Henderson where we spent the night.

This is the construction they are currently doing at Hoover Dam.
One sign is the Arizona welcoming party.

On the second day of the trip, we stopped in Phoenix and stayed with the family of the missionary who taught and baptized Jorge, Megan's dad. They were a wonderful family, and we are enjoyed hearing the great stories about Jorge from thirty years ago.
While we were there, Tyler couldn't take not talking to his girlfriends back at home. He snagged my phone (which I will praise and complain about later), and made a few calls to his peeps. That little kid in the E-Trade commercials has nothing on TyTy.
Of course, we knew that the road trip would require entertaining of a 14-month-old, but we didn't expect him to be as good as he was. He would grab a book or a magazine and go through it page-by-page reading the stories, looking at photos and talking to himself. It was cute.

That's the trip down, next up is the food we enjoyed the whole time we were there.
